For future creators and art enthusiasts, 1646 is considering ways in which younger generations can be sparked with curiosity about art and feel engaged with cultural programs and 1646 itself.
In 1646, photography students from American School of The Hague, with guidance from Bernice Nauta, participated in an educational experiment as part of the current exhibition When I grow up, I will become a coatrack by Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen.
In Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen’s glittering and futuristic worlds, blind people drive cars and the elderly wish for care robots to protect them from their human caregivers. In the exhibition she invites us to better understand the consequences of excluding disabled people from decision-making and technological innovation. With help from Bernice Nauta, the students explored the meaning and context of the exhibition and it’s themes such as soft technology and inclusivity in relation to their individual projects.
The final presentation was on March 20th, from 18:30 to 20:00, in the backspace at Boekhorststraat 127.
