In October – November 2018, the Finnish artists’ collective Anna Breu was selected for the residency at 1646 with the proposal to collaborate with the Dutch-German artists’ collective Samet Yilmaz, to develop a longer-term project in The Hague.
Anna Breu‘s residency period was the first step of an ongoing project, in which the group researched the advance of capitalism in pursuit of a new vision of emancipation.
For this project Anna Breu made a reinterpretation of Giovanni Boccaccio’s Decamerone, in which a group of young people fleeing the plague lock themselves in a luxurious country house to entertain themselves by telling stories to one another. Their aim during the residency was to make a video as work in progress.
On the 27th of October Anna Breu organized the event “Coyote Explained”; an artist talk and discussion at 1646 about their practice.
