On 12 October, 1646 gave a sneak peek of the work in progress of Azahara Cerezo, then-current artist-in-residence at 1646. Cerezo invited her audience to participate in a field trip to the ice skating venue De Uithof in Den Haag.

The project Cerezo was working on, takes as a starting point the only Spanish professional ice speed skater Antonio Gomez Fernandez. He remains unknown in Spain, but became very famous in Holland at the end of the 70’s, even though he had no economic support from institutions. From this fragment that in some way has slipped away from history, the work explores the role of speed skating as a cultural element in Holland.

Over Azahara Cerezo works on social changes, urban forms and physical and virtual public space by means of strategies based on re/writing and repetition. Through access and usage of data in real time, processes close to appropriationism and exercises of displacement, she develops projects with different formal outcomes, such as ephemeral actions, experimental videos and installations.
