During the exhibition Very Good/Good/Not So Good/Bad 1646 hosted a marble run that stretches out through the entire gallery space. The installation consisted of a structure of tubes that connected one singular hole with four exit holes carefully positioned in the exhibition space. Each exit hole represented one of the four terms taken from the title; ‘Very Good’, ‘Good’, ‘Not So Good’ and ‘Bad’. Every day a sphere was dropped into the apparatus to then, after being transmitted through the tubular system, finally exit from one of the four holes determining the value of the information it represents.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition Colson sent the 1646 office a file every day: a drawing, a quote, a story, an experience and so on. The printed file is presented in a click frame next to the exit hole in question during the remainder of the day.
The installation used chance as its main ally to fiddle around with institutions like quality and morality in a playful way.
