Navid Nuur - 5/9, 'Lost Licks' at 1646

For each exhibition 1646 publishes an emailconversation between the artist and a correspondent. This conversation takes place via email and stretches through the whole six to ten weeks before the opening of the exhibition, during which period the artist develops his initial idea into final a result. 1646 invites the correspondent at the other end of this contact to find their way through this actual process. In trying to picture what result the artist’s work is going to, such an exchange can become a reflection on the amount of otherwise untraceable choices of the moment that make up the artist’s practice.
This publication combines the conversation, originally published in Dutch on occasion of Navid Nuur’s exhibition ‘LOST LICKS’ in 1646 on September the 5th 2008 in The Hague, The Netherlands, together with the original invitation of the show and a strip of paper from ArtForum magazine. The two large images concentrate only on one particular work in relationship to the interview and the show.
