The work of Daniel Jacoby is rambling. His stories are told by means of a wide range of media generally articulated by a textual component.

With the help of poetic devices or similar strategies, he aims at forcing connections between far-fetched ideas that wind up being elaborately – though unstably – structured.

A series of references, coming from a constant non-rigorous research, naturally contaminated with personal anecdotes or fictional information open up new possible interpretations.

At 1646, Daniel continued to explore his interest in amorphous or unrecognizable shapes and how these can serve as containers for a whole set of projections and guesswork. His solo show A Mount-Rushmore-Resembling Piece of Cheddar Cheese Melted to a Perfectly Flat Squared Slice was developed around a series of apparently trivial peers: an easily brandable and versatile product such as the towel, a main ingredient for countless popular dishes around the world as is the potato and other common things appear criss-crossed with each other along the exhibition. Apart from an attempt at bringing up their symbolisms for discussion, there was also a more ingenious will to explore the sculptural possibilities of such elements. Both how forms are loaded with meaning and how meanings are loaded with form were equally relevant questions to this project.
