Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen

Solo exhibition

07/02/2025 –
– 20/04

1646 is proud to present the first exhibition of Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen (b. 1974) in the Netherlands. For her solo presentation at 1646, we have invited the artist to develop new works and present them in combination with some of the artworks made for the Venice Biennale 2024, where she represented Finland.

Jenni-Juulia Wallinheimo-Heimonen is a multidisciplinary artist and disability activist. Through videos, sculptures, interventions, textiles and needlework, her work addresses structural violence, discrimination disguised as kindness, and issues related to women with disabilities. With a colourful and humorous approach, she takes a critical look at the inequalities and absurdities that many people face in our society.

This exhibition is supported by the Finnish Cultural Institute for the Benelux.
