Background Evening with Lindsay Lawson
For this evening Lindsay Lawson will present and evening inspired by her current exhibition Arrangements.
The plot of Lindsay Lawson’s new film currently on view at 1646 revolves around a woman who falls in love with a stone. The central character is an objectum sexual, a person who has emotional, romantic, and sexual relationships with objects. Lawson’s research on this orientation towards objects has been an inspiration for her practice for the past several years leading her to explore themes ranging from object-oriented ontology, fringe sexualities, virtual relationships, and aura and provenance of objects. The background evening will be an opportunity to share information about these topics in the context of the film, which will be screened in the beginning of the event.
