What we offer you
Located in the heart of The Hague, 1646 has a small, diverse team that offers you a unique chance to be actively involved in our programming. You’ll meet exhibiting artists and gain valuable, hands-on experience. At 1646, you’ll work directly with art, our team, and the community! In addition, we offer a volunteer compensation of €5 per hour (up to €210 per month).
What you will do
Build-up crew – As a build-up volunteer at 1646, you’ll assist with production, such as setting up and taking down exhibitions. Tasks may include painting and plastering walls, supporting artists and technicians with installations, and setting up projections and sound equipment. Together with the 1646 production team and other volunteers, you’ll gain practical experience in a dynamic environment.
Hosting – You’ll be at the heart of the action! You’ll welcome visitors, provide information, and assist at various events, such as exhibition openings and our Background Evenings. Typical shifts include Thursday evenings (18:00 to 21:00), Saturdays, or Sundays (13:00 to 18:00). We ensure that you feel well-prepared and at home in our space.
